easter!

making easter baskets out of paper plates...

we were very excited to discover a hidden letter from the easter bunny!

the kids left offerings in the window in hopes of luring the easter bunny back!

buying supplies for our garden!

we walked to natty garden to stock up on seeds, soil and pots!

by the end of our stay we managed to get both of these seed displays off of the wall. luckily the owner was very sweet about it!

why i now love plastic eggs...

plastic eggs were used for practicing different math and language skills. we read how do you count a dozen ducklings? and talked about how there are twelve eggs in one dozen.
we put different objects into our plastic eggs and documented whether or not they sank or floated...
we even brought the eggs to the park! the kids had fun doing (our version of) an egg relay race.
one use for the plastic eggs that i loved was writing the stem of a word family, like -AT, on the right half of the egg and b, s, c, m, p, r, f, h on the left half. the kids had so much fun sounding out the different words they would make! unfortunately i wasn't able to take any photos before the letters eventually smeared off...

egg time...

we had fun comparing the color results of white eggs versus brown eggs and creating different patterns using rubber bands and stickers. i was hoping we would have had time to experiment dying eggs naturally but i'll have to save that for next year!
