our new mysterious bag...

i introduced our class mystery bag at fiona's last week. i placed about 6 items on our work mat and the kids took turns feeling the shapes and textures of each object. then i placed one inside and asked a child to try to guess which item it was without peeking inside. i told the kids not to say what they thought it was out loud until everyone had a turn. once everyone went we shouted out what we thought it was at the same time! this was great because not only does it help develop the sense of how things feel but it also served as a way to practice patience. after a few rounds i changed things around by telling the kids to pick two objects and place them in the bag, keeping in mind that whatever they picked would have to fit inside the small opening of the bag...
