i found some plastic popcorn containers and it prompted an imaginary popcorn stand! it was a great way to practice our math and sharing skills. i made a path of duct tape that was only wide enough for one child as a way to introduce the concept of "standing in line"...
at snack time i brought out real popcorn which the kids dished out themselves. rather than everyone getting their own bowl, we filled two and shared with a friend. before setting up the popcorn stand i moved the chairs, without realizing they made the perfect set up for a stage. the kids, however, noticed this almost immediately! so we changed the popcorn stand to a movie theater and the girls took turns dancing to julie andrews! (sonny opted to man the cash register...)
